Addison is the first intermediate stop on the blue line extension in the median of the Kennedy Expressway (I-90 & I-94) that the Blue Line uses all the way out to O'Hare Airport and opened on February 1, 1970. The station has a single island platform that is completely covered by a canopy that has a bubble roof. There is one exit at the southern end of the platform, here a staircase and escalator lead up a small fare control building at street level where the turnstiles are and out to the north side of Addison Street.
