Cottle is the last station in the middle of the West Valley (Norman Mineta) Freeway. The station has a single island platform for the two-track line with a single entrance via two narrow staircases that have an up escalator, followed by an elevator (with an elevated walkway to it) from the east sidewalk of the overpass of Cottle Road at its eastern (The San Jose-bound) end of the platform. This is all enclosed by concrete with a small amount of tiling adding details. There is a train signal engraved in the elevator shaft. After the staircase/elevator, the platform ramps up slightly to the modern level-boarding level for the new lower floor LRVs. For waiting passengers single canopy structure with blue arched canopy held up by tiled columns that have Cottle in white tiled above the exit arrows. The northern end of the platform ends with an Emergency Safe Area in the middle of the freeway. The station has a small 421-space parking lot just south of the freeway located between Cottle Road (where the one entrance is) and a freeway on ramp.
