Bayfront-E Street is an infill station which opened in October 1986. The station is just south of E Street's grade crossing. The station is another stop with a completely unused eastern track whose former switch connections have been completely covered with concrete. This means that San Diego-bound trains stop in the middle of the station requiring passengers to cross this unused track to leave the station. The only sign of the stations slight newer-ness is the two red shelters and red fence along the San Ysidro-bound side platform. The middle San Diego-bound platform has the standard brown pavilion type canopy structure. This Chula Vista Visitor Information Center is a small building just beyond this. On each side of this area that protrudes from the middle of the trolley platform are parking lots with a total of 267 spaces and buses stop along the southern side of plaza.

From January 13, 2014 through September 2014, the station was completely rebuilt under the trolley renewal project to have 6 inch high platforms replacing the former ones at ground-level. The new station has the standard renewed Blue Line station layout, with modern 6 inch high platforms. The track area is now normal ballast with 4 pedestrian crossings, 2 at each end of the platform that are step free, and two in the middle of the platform. Two larger cream-colored canopy structures on each platform provide more shade than the previous canopies. As part of these renovations, signs on the platforms were all replaced to now simply say E Street and this is also the name of the station on all modern maps and schedules.
