25th & Commercial (Cesar E. Chavez) Station is the first intermediate station on the now named Orange Line (originally named the East Line) after it leaves the Blue Line at 12th & Imperial Transit Center. The stop opened first on March 23, 1986, received some renovations that involved the installation of Achievement/Progress/Community: In the Spirit of Cesar E. Chavez in 2006. On May 16, 2012 the station was closed again for three months with a temporary station at 24th Street (and Commercial) so the stop can have a few inches added to its already slightly raised platforms for the proper height for S70 Low-Floor LRV operations. The station has two staggered side platforms as trains run in the middle of Commercial Street. The Downtown-bound platform is located between the intersections of Harrison Avenue and Cesar E. Chavez Parkway where it intersects 25th Street. The Gillespie Field-bound platform is located from this intersection of 25th Street (which branches into Ocean View Blvd towards this direction) to 26th Street/Dewey Street. The two platforms each have two modern green canopy structures covering benches and green fencing, there are trees planted on both platforms with mosaics along the planters the main part of the artwork.
