The Hollywood/Highland Station is only open for 364 (365 in a leap year) days per year, closed one Sunday a year for the entire day because of the Academy Awards, trains pass beneath without stopping. This is because the station's one entrance is along the northside of Hollywood Blvd, just west of Highland Avenue, leading out to the sidewalk in the Hollywood & Highland Center with the Kodak Theatre. This entrance leads down with two escalators and staircase in between with an elevator to one side to an intermediate landing before curving and another set of escalators and stairs to the TVMs and than turnstiles that lead to the mezzanine area directly set inside the double height ceiling of the platform at its southern end. An elevator leads down to the platform and there are two sets of up escalators/staircases down to the island platform. The platform has single central columns, circular silver sheathing along the roof and pink light fixtures shining indirectly. This is Underground Girl by Sheila Klein. On the mezzanine are images in light boxes that are You Are / Are Not Here by The Center for Land Use Interpretation that are odd photos of people and maps that are vaguely similar to the title.
