Trinidad is a true Amshak station. It consists of a little gravel parking lot just off of I-25, with a small square trailer for the station building as well as a port-a-john and a fairly elegant looking station platform for a station of its minor calibor with what looks like a slate floor. The station is just a block from I-25 and is the most northern station of the Southwest Chief along that corridor before it turns east again to continue into Kansas and Chicago. It would be a good station to drive to for Southwest Chief service from the cities of the southern Front Range, although no real secure parking would definitely be a deterrent.
