Hudson, NY is located in an old Mill Town that has had a big revitalization with a small downtown with shops and restaurants within walking distance of the station. It is a hub of antique stores. The stop has three tracks but only the far two are used the third is a freight track. The platform consists of two strips of concrete between the tracks that are connected by concrete pathways. This concrete can platform about two doors of a train and generally two sets of doors are open in the rear of the train, one for the cafe/business class car and the next coach door up. It is scattered with yellow stools to make the gap smaller and passengers are instructed by a sign not to enter this area (don't go beyond the yellow line) until train has come to a stop. A wheelchair lift is beyond the platform so there must be long delays to board and detrain these passengers because it must be wheeled out. This sign is in a small outdoor waiting area with the porch of the large red historic Victorian era station house beyond it that opened in 1874 and is the oldest continually operating railroad station house in the state. This house has wood paneled walls and wooden benches in the main waiting area. It is a staffed station with a wood paneled ticket office open for almost all weekday departures. A Quick-Track Machine is alongside it. On this end of the station house a hallway leads down to a small snackbar and the restrooms. Doors lead landside out of it to Front Street and the low-lying small downtown of Hudson.
