Amtrak's AEM-7 Electric Locomotives

The AEM-7 Locomotives are Amtrak's older electric locomotives, and much more common then the Acela Looking HHP-8. The Locomotives were originally built between 1979 and 1988, for service on the eletrified Northeast corridor between Washington and New Haven. Amtrack has recently (in 2001) rebuilt some of the locomotives complete with AC motors, it hopes to rebuild the rest, when it has funding. The locomotives just like the HHP-8s are double ended, meaning they don't need a loop track to reverse, they simply have to run down a different track to get to the other end of the train.
